Golden Rule number 7: Donate.
If you just visited French Polynesia and want to give back to the community in a lasting and meaningful way, consider donating to one of these local causes:
1. Environmental nonprofit: Te Ora Naho.
Te Ora Naho is the federation of environmental protection nonprofits in French Polynesia (FAPE). To date, they represent 60 member associations present throughout French Polynesia.
2. Science education nonprofit: Reva Atea.
Reva atea is a non-profit association whose main objective is the transmission of cultural, scientific and environmental values through the development of educational programs. Their programs are modular, and address varied subjects ranging from the terrestrial environment to the marine ecosystem. The idea is to open our eyes to the environment around us, observe to better understand, take part in projects and act together.
3. Cultural nonprofit: Fare Hape, Haururu.
Since its creation, the association has never stopped defending the cultural and environmental heritage of the Papenoo valley. Thanks to the construction of its traditional village on the Fare Hape site, they have been able to perpetuate the values of their elders.
4. Sustainable Tourism nonprofit: Association Nani.
Association Nani is a nonprofit based in Tahiti raising awareness to protect French Polynesia’s nature and culture by creating impactful projects and creating community.
5. Not sure which type of nonprofit: Anavai Foundation.
Anavai is the first donation platform to co-finance nonprofit projects in Polynesia.
Even small contributions can make a big difference for these nonprofits.
